The person taken up last week at Calais and lodged in gaol at St. Andrews on suspicion of being Thomas BOWES, the murderer of Mr. GOFF, a policeman in Portland (St. John) last December, underwent an examination on the 21st before the Portland police magistrate, Jacob ALLAN, Esq.. He proved to be a person named Archibald BOWES, a native of P.E.I. who was passing in Calais under an feigned name on account of having committed some crime in (Sunbury Co.) N.B.
