It is with deep regret that we record the death of William NAPIER, Esq., Bathurst which took place in St. John at the residence of Francis FERGUSON, Esq. on 3rd inst., at 70 years of age. The deceased gentleman was a native of Musselburgh near Edinburgh. He emigrated to New Brunswick in 1828 and engaged in commercial pursuits at Richibucto for two years; and in 1830 removed to Bathurst where he carried on a business as a timber merchant until 1842 when he was appointed to an office in the Revenue Service which he continued to hold until the year before his death. For many years he was Superintendent of the Sabbath School in connection with St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, Bathurst. He was ordained Ruling Elder at Bathurst in 1851. He survived his wife only a few months. (see eulogy)
