Cornwallis has lost one of its most venerable citizens and the North Cornwallis congregation its elder. John BURGESS, a prosperous farmer, had reached a ripe old age. On the Sabbath preceding his death while his son Rev. J.C. BURGESS of Carleton (St. John) was driving him to church, one of the wheels came off the wagon and the venerable father with his wife fell to the ground with a considerable shock. - 'Halifax Witness'
