James ROSS, one of our oldest citizens, departed this life on Sunday morn. last age 84. The deceased kept the smithy on the bank of the river near the Gibson ferry landing for many years. He retired from business some years ago when he removed to Charlotte Street. Mr. Ross was a Scotchman of the old school, proud of his land of birth. He was for many years a member of Fredericton St. Andrews Society. He leaves a large family of sons and daughters, his wife having predeceased him some years ago. Malcolm ROSS, the engineer of the Water Works, Robert ROSS of Woodstock and Thomas ROSS, carpenter of this city are sons of the deceased. Last Sunday Rev. Mowatt paid tribute to his memory in St. Paul's Kirk, of which Mr. Ross was a member for over half a century.
