Everybody who knew him will be sorry to hear that Richard BILLINGS is dead. A week or two ago he was seized with illness, the exact nature of which his physicians were unable to determine. On Monday afternoon it became apparent that his end was approaching. Dr. Sweetland of Ottawa was called in for consultation, pronounced the disease a peculiar for of blood poisoning. The said the disease had advanced too far for human agency to save him and the result justified his statement, for at 11 o'clock Monday night he died. The deceased was the oldest son of the late Samuel BILLINGS and was never married. He was a warm-hearted generous spirited man. His funeral took place Wednesday afternoon. The fire companies, of which deceased was one of the oldest members, placed a floral offering in the shape of a branch pipe upon his coffin. At the funeral they marched in a body. General sympathy is expressed for his aged mother, brothers and sisters.
