Ex. Alderman Joseph VANDINE, a member of the Board of Health, passed peacefully away at his home on Brunswick Street at 6 o'clock last eve. He had been in failing health or a year past, and while it was known that he could not recoverm still the news of his death last eve. rolled like a great wave of sorrow throughout the city. He served the city in the capacity of alderman for upwards of seven years, being first chosen in 1879 and served until 1884 when he again retired. He was again returned for Wellington ward in 1890 and continued to represent it until 1894 when owing to failing health he was forced to retire from public life. Deceased was a native of Carleton Co. and came here in 1852 where he has lived ever since. He was 60 years of age and leaves a widow and two daughters, one of whom is a teacher in the city schools. His mother, an aged lady of 85, also survives him. He also leaves one half brother and three full brothers, one of whom is Dow VANDINE of the customs dept. His funeral will take place from his residence Monday 2:30 p.m.
