Daniel REGAN employed on the farm of John DEVER at Red Head (St. John) left the city for his house Monday eve. Another man accompanied him in the waggon. In the course of the night, the horse got home without a driver. An alarm being raised, some of the men went out to look for REGAN but could not find him. Next morn. he was found lying on the roadside near Marshall's. The body showed no sign of violence but looked as if the man had suffocated. The other man, it is said, travelled back and can give no satisfactory account of what happened. It is possible that both by some means fell out of the waggon. A jug of rum, out of which a quart was taken, was found in the waggon, and it is all too probable the men got drunk. - Freeman
