Two young men belonging to Canaan, Michael GUEST and James CORCORAN were drowned by the upsetting of a boat in which they were attempting to cross the Aroostock river, some six miles below Presque Isle Sunday last. Their bodies were recovered and brought to their homes, Canaan and interred Wednesday morn. The unexpected death of these two young men and their double funeral, especially following so soon the death of Michael SULLIVAN who had been found dead in his bed some weeks previous, has throen a pall of gloom over the whole settlement.
