On Saturday night, Thomas MERRITT passed away at the age of 77 years. For nearly a quarter of a century he held the position of Chamberlain of the City (Saint John). He was a native of Saint John descended from a Loyalist family and early in life established a name and a place among the leading merchants of that time. (see eulogy)
