Yesterday week, a house on the Miramichi road a few miles from Bathurst (Glouc. Co.), was burnt to the ground. It was occupied by an old man named William BATEMAN and some members of his family. In attempting to save some articles, BATEMAN, who was very infirm, was caught in the house. He thrust his hand through a pane of glass and made an attempt to get through the window, but could not extricate himself until the window frame was consumed by fire. He then fell out, but so much injured that he died in a few hours.
