A sad drowning accident occurred on the river opposite Gagetown (Queens Co.) Wednesday at noon. A gentleman who witnessed the accident thus describes it. When the steamer "May Queen" was approaching Schofield's landing, opposite Gagetown, a boat with three people, two men and a young woman, was seen putting off from the shore. The boat struck the guards of the steamer, just foward of the wheel and capsized. One of the men, James McINTOSH struck one of the guards as he went down and received a blow on the head. He was never seen after he sank. The other two, Thomas REARDON and Miss ELLIOTT caught the wheel of the steamer and saved their lives. Capt. BABBITT landed from the "Queen" and got men to drag for the body. They succeeded in finding it yesterday about 2 o'clock. McINTOSH belongs to White's Cove where he has a wife and two children.
