Yesterday, at noon, the alms house commissioners were called upon to provide for an unfortunate woman named Campbell who complained of having been deserted by her husband, Henry CAMPBELL whom she married in Boston in February last year. She came to this country from England four or five years ago during which time she was engaged as a domestic in Halifax and in the American House, Kentville, N.S. After leaving the latter place she went to Boston where she met Campbell, who claimed to be a resident of St. John, N.B. The condition of the poor woman was such that the commissioners granted her permission to go to the alms house.
