Capt. O'Neill of bark "Molilamo" at Chatham reports - Left Liverpool, 3rd April, had fine weather for 10 days, afterwards experienced heavy westerly winds for five days. On 15th May, while in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the weather having become fine, the watch was engaged in painting the ship outside, and in coming up to shift the stage, John HUGHES, able seaman, native of Liverpool, fell overboard. A life buoy was thrown to him and he got hold of it. The helm was put hard down and the main topsail laid to the mast, a boat put out and a man picked up. He was taken on board and all possible means employed to resuscitate him, but without effect. The body was buried on the 16th.
