Allan ROBINS, about 58 years old, in the employ of the St. Croix log driving co., was drowned at the dam over the river between St. Croix and Vanceboro on Thursday last. He was assisting the foreman to cut away the bulkhead and standing on the platform below struck a plank with his axe. The plank broke and the water from above the dam, there being a head of some eight feet, rushed through carrying Robins off his feet and the platform into the deep water where there is an eddy and he was drowned before he could be rescued. He rose once and made an attempt to swim, but sunk again almost immediately. Robins came originally from the old country and has made his home recently at St. Stephen and Digdeguash (Charlotte Co.). He is said to have no relatives in this country and was unmarried. The log driving co. had his remains properly and coffined for burial and took the body to St. Stephen. (see Alexander ROBINSON)
