Capt. George CALDER of Calais, Me. schr. "C.B. Paine", age 33, son of Capt. Alonzo CALDER of Fairhaven, Deer Island (Charlotte Co.), was drowned in Portsmouth harbor, N.H., 13th inst. The news reached Deer Island two hours after the event. His body was recovered soon after the accident and was sent by I.S.S. to Eastport and thence to Fairhaven for interment, which took place 16th inst. from his father's residence. The obsequies were conducted by Rev. A.H. McLeod. Sadness prevails in the home where sisters, brother and parents reside. Rev. Alonzo CALDER, brother of the deceased, was unable to reach home in time for the funeral. Three other brothers, one in Iceland and two from New York bound east, were also unable to come home. In memory of the deceased, the flag of Fairhaven school house was raised half mast on the 14th and 15th inst.
