Thomas WHELPLEY, a native of Kings Co., 28 years old, fell from the cross trees of the schr. "Lottie B." to the deck on Saturday morn. and received serious if not fatal injuries. Capt. Crossman says that the mand was standing on the cross trees sending up the topmast and in doing so the eye-bolt that held the block was carried away and it fell on his head which so stunned him that he lost his balance and fell backwards upon his back and shoulders on a pile of wood, a distance of forty feet. For half an hour he remained unconscious. The injured man was sent to his home immediately and was stillliving last night. Dr. Christie, the attending physician expresses slight hopes of his recovery. Whelpley has been married about six weeks.
