A young man of 21 named Florence McCARTHY, by occupation a painter, who lived with his mother on Erin St. (St. John) was killed yesterday by a fall from a ladder on the new ship "Empress of India" lying at the new pier. Coroner Earle held an inquest at the residence at the house of the deceased's widowed mother at 7 o'clock. The verdict was accidental death (see original)
