Carlisle (Carleton Co.) Feb. 18th - On morn. 15th inst., Bro. Joseph MELVIN, sr., age 60, who had been confined to his bed since autumn by consumption, passed quietly away. The deceased was a native of Quaco (St. John) and settled here some 15 or 16 years ago; left widow, seven children. Bro. Melvin joined the Free Baptist Church here at the time of its organization in 1874. Some two years ago he united with the Lodge of Good Templars here and has been an earnest worker in the Temperance movement. The services were conducted by Rev. C.H. Orser.
