To the Editor of the 'World' - Dear Sir: One of the saddest accidents which has shocked this community for a long time occurred here Saturday eve. last about 6 o'clock, causing the sudden death of Frank G. FOWLIE, age 28, s/o Robert S. FOWLIE of your county. Wishing to go to Rasota, Minnesota about four miles distant from here, Mr. Fowlie boarded a work train going to that place. After arriving there he got off upon the platform, but as the train was proceeding a little further down the track he again boarded it. While in the act of making a flying switch it was necessary to give the train a sudden jerk which threw Mr. Fowlie, who was standing near the end of one of the cars, between the cars. He was dragged a short distance, his head striking against the end of a guard rail, fracturing his skull and causing instant death. His uncles, Frank FOWLER of Mankato and Alexander CAMERON of Stillwater, who happened to be in Mankato, were at once telegraphed for and were soon at the place where the accident occurred. As no blame could be attached to anyone an inquest was not deemed necessary. His remains were taken to the residence of T.G. McKay and were buried from there Monday last in the cemetery at Kasota, a funeral service being held in the Presbyterian church there. Mr. Fowlie had made many friends here during the past five years. He had been employed during that time as engineer in his uncle's stone saw mill in connection with the quarry and during this season in the same capacity with Mr. McKay.
