The death is announced this morn. of John EGGAR, painter and artist, at age 65. Mr. Eggar had not been enjoying good health for 4 or 5 years past, but was only confined to the house for the past three weeks. Mr. Eggar was born and educated in this city. He learned the trade at an early age. His views of the Grand Falls, the Tobique and Temiscouata Lakes show artistic work of very high order. Mr. Eggar married Isabel AGNEW d/o late William AGNEW of this city. His father had kept store in Fredericton for some years and after visiting friends in London, he removed to Aroostock (Victoria Co.), where in the vicinity of the Falls, he purchased a tract of land, erected a house and lived alone for many years. Some American newspaper men once called upon him and were so taken up with his eccentricities that they devoted a half column of space in their paper to their interview with him. After his death much of the Aroostock property reverted to his son John EGGAR, who afterwards disposed of it in lots. The funeral will take place Sunday afternoon. The remains will be interred in the old burying ground.
