Died at Woodstock (Carleton Co.) Feb. 3rd, 1869, John Vaughan eldest s/o Dea. Jesse and Mary TABOR. The deceased was long known as a resident of Upham and Hammond and more recently in Woodstock where himself and family had settled. In January 1824, when between 16 and 17 years of age, he yielded to the Spirit of God and became a member of the 2nd Hampton, now known as the Hammond Baptist Church. As a teacher of youth, he obtained a good name having devoted the most of his time since 1835, successfully to that pursuit. At the age of 30 he became united in marriage. He leaves a widow, six sons, two daughters. On the night preceding he took the farewell parting with each member of his family, his neice and brother and their companions with great composure.
