Hugh MONTAGUE was killed this afternoon at the foot of Portland Street by the incoming C.P.R. train. The victim today was Hugh Montague, an aged man who lived in the house alongside the crossing with his son, John MONTAGUE. He was about 80 years of age and had not worked for some time. About twenty minutes to three he started this afternoon from the house, telling his daughter-in-law he was just going to the door and in less than five minutes she received word that he was dead. A little lad, Freddie SCOTT was an eye-witness to the accident. (see original)
