John Saunders CLARK, one of our oldest citizens, came here from Yarmouth, N.S. and has resided in the Province over 60 years. He retained possession of all his faculties up to the time of his death. In a conversation we had with him some time ago, he gave us a very vivid description of the feelings exhibited by many persons when American ships arrived here after the war of 1812. Mr. CLARK was Deacon of the Baptist Church and one of the founders of the first church of that denomination in this city (Saint John). He was also a Free mason and was initiated in a Lodge at Kingston in 1806 before any Lodge was instituted in this city. He was one of the Charter members and the first Master of the Carleton Lodge, Charter member of the Union Chapter of Carleton.
