Last Eve. Counc. Daniel McEVOY died at his residence Three Miles House. Deceased was born in Queens County, Ireland and with his father came to this country when four years old and therefore has been a resident upwards of half a century. When entering manhood he was apprenticed as a carpenter and builder and followed that trade until 1852 when, with Charles MOORE, on the site now occupied by M.& H. Gallagher, Charlotte St., he embarked in business. In 1855 he retired from the firm and returned to his trade as carpenter and builder. In 1862 he built the Three Mile House and has occupied it ever since, although about four years ago, he retired from business management of the favorite resort and was succeeded by his son William McEVOY. For the last three years, Mr. McEvoy has represented the parish of Simonds in municiple council. Counc. McEvoy was at one time large interested in shipping. He leaves a widow, two sons and one daughter. Two of this brother, P.J. McEVOY, who does business on Union St. and Andrew McEVOY, who resides at Three Mile House, are all that are living here. John McEVOY resides in Massachusetts, as do Mrs. BOWES and his other two sisters.
