The funeral of John McCAFFREY of West End which took place yesterday afternoon was largely attended. The remains were taken to the Church of Assumption and thence to the R.C. burying ground on Lancaster Heights. Mr. McCaffery was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, 79 years ago. In 1836 he came to this country with his wife and one child, but returned to 1842 to Ireland. He came out again in 1847 and has since resided here. For many years he was employed with Messrs. Barlow in the lumber business and afterwards ran the night ferry. He had four sons and three daughters. Of his sons, Capt. John McCAFFERY of the ferry service has succeeded to his father's place. The pall bearers were Francis McCAFFERTY, James McSORLEY, Humphrey TOOMEY, Wm CONNOLLY, Thomas NASH and Michael GAYNOR.
