Sunday week, fire was set to the Dewar wood lot in Scotch Settlement, St. George Parish (Charlotte Co.) which spread rapidly and endangered the swelling house and barns on the clearing. Suspicion rests on a young man named Fred DEWAR, who left for Eastport, Maine same night en route for Minneapolis, Minnesota. Fred lived with and was brought up by his grandfather John DEWAR, owner of the property and was incenced with him because he recently conveyed the property to and had gone to live with A.H. BARTLETT of Waweig. Fred is reported to have threatened that he would give the place a scorching before he left.
