A Dorchester despatch to the 'Globe' says: The community heard with deep regret this morn. of the death of E.V. TAIT, one of their most respected members. The deceased was a man of great ability, holding a great many important positions. He was born at Sackville in 1827, therefore he was nearly 66 years old. His father was Alex. TAIT of Lenabo, parish of Langsyde, Aberdeenshire, Scotland; his mother, Elizabeth McALLEN of Westmorland, N.B. In Sept. 1852, he married Catherine ATKINSON d/o late John ATKINSON, who survives him. He received his education at Mount Allison and afterwards went to Fredericton where he received his licence to teach school under the old system. He is a teacher of nearly 57 years standing. He leaves four sons and four daughters to mourn his loss. The sons are J. Fred ATKINSON, operator in the W.U. at North Sydney, C.B.; W. Frank ATKINSON, deputy registrar of deeds in Westmorland Co.; Albert B. ATKINSON, accountant for Binal's establishment, Boston, Mass. and Alex. P. ATKINSON, operator at Gardiner, Maine. The daughters are Lila E. ATKINSON, Laura A. ATKINSON, Mabel ATKINSON and Ella ATKINSON. Among the important positions held by him was gaoler for the county of Westmorland which position he had held for 38 years and he was also a general insurance agent for fire, life, accident and marine. He was also a trustee of school ever since the new system of schools was introduced. He was also an organist of the Holy Trinity church, Dorchester for the last forty years. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon 3 o'clock.
