Robert THORBURN, an old resident of Fredericton, died in this city early Thursday morn. He was a Scotchman by birth. He was born in Lanarkshire, near Glasgow, Scotland in 1820 and came to this Province when 16 years of age and has resided in Fredericton, Royal Road or Stanley ever since. He was clerk in the old Bank of British North America and also the old Central bank for many years. He was appointed one of the clerks in the Provincial Secretary's Office which he held up to the time of his death. He was a representative for Parish of Stanley at the Municiple Council Board and for over 40 years a member of the Fredericton Society of St. Andrews. He was one of the founders of the Fredericton Curling Club. A wife, three sons and six daughters survive the deceased. His funeral yesterday afternoon was largely attended.
