Casey has been ill for some time from the effects of fever contracted while in Africa and on Good Friday of last year he left Sackville for New York to take a vessel in the hope that a sea voyage would prove beneficial to him. He was master of M. Wood & Sons barque "Otaway" when she was wrecked at Fort Natal, Africa about two years ago. Capt. Casey was born at Baie Verte (West. Co.) about fifty years ago. He followed the sea all his life of as master some of the best ships. He married Lizzie FAWCETT d/o A.T. FAWCETT, Sackville, who with one son survives him. The deceased was a cousin of C.R.
