It was in January 1857 that the "Lord Ashburton" was wrecked at North Head, near Eel Brook. Capt. CREARER and twenty of her crew were buried in the cemetery near where a church had been built within recent years. Capt. Crearer's remains were removed by his brothers to Nova Scotia. James LAWSON, a survivor of the disaster continues to reside on Grand Manan. He is a Dane and purposes visiting his native land this coming spring or summer. Capt. Crearer's family were well known to the late Kenneth McKENZIE who resided for some years at Grand Harbor. Mr. McKenzie was a native of Nova Scotia and a blacksmith. He removed from his native province to Machias, Maine some time after the confederation of the provinces. From Machias he came to Grand Manan. He moved to Boston last fall and died there on Dec. 27, 1888.
