Fredericton, Feb. 6 - Lt. Governor Edward Barron CHANDLER died at quarter to 4 o'clock. He was a son of Charles H. CHANDLER, Esq., for many years High Sheriff of Cumberland Co., N.S. and a grandson of Joshua CHANDLER of New Haven, Conn., loyalist and member of the General Assembly, 1775, who proceeded to N.S. in 1783 and thence to England to obtain compensation for his losses by the American Revolution. The deceased was born at Amherst, N.S. in 1800 and therefore was nearly 80 years of age at the time of his death. He was educated at Amherst. In 1822 he married Miss P.W. MILLIDGE d/o late Dr. MILLIDGE and niece of the late Judge BOTSFORD He was called to the Bar of New Brunswick in October 1823. He was Judge of Probate for Westmorland County for many years and Clerk of the Peace for 1823 to 1862. He was President of the Albert and Westmorland Mining and Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Executive Council of this Province from 1844 to 1858 and from 1867 to 1869, when he resigned on his appointment as an Intercolonial Railway Commissioner.
