A terrible burning accident occurred at River Hebert, Cumberland Co., N.S. on Sunday morn., resulting in the death of Anna WOOD, 16 year old d/o Chas. WOOD of that place. The child was playing in the upper part of the house and her father and mother were in the lower part, when the child was heard faintly calling 'Papa'. Her father immediately went upstairs and was horrified to see his daughter advancing towards him enveloped in flames to the neck. When the flames were put out it was found that the upper part of her body had been burned in a terrible manner, the skin being literally black. Morphine was administered to relieve the pain and everything done to save her life, but without avail, she only surviving the terrible injuries a few hours. It is though that she had been playing with matches.
