About 9 o'clock this morn. the body of a man was observed floating in the water at Courtenay Bay (St. John) off Lordly, Howe & Co.'s furniture factory. It was first seen by John McKENZIE who waited until it drifted up to the end of Clarendon St., when the body was washed ashore. It was thought that the remains might be those of John KEMP or Thomas HOLMES who were drowned in the harbor on the fatal June 20th (day of Great Fire). (see original)
