A shooting in Smithfield, six miles from Upper Stewiacke Village on Christmas Day, an accident occurred by which a man named James J. GOURLEY lost his life. In a shop a few yards from where the unfortunate man stood, a loaded gun was being capped when by some means the hammer was caught and made to fulfil its office. The ball passed through an inch board, entered Gourley's thigh and came out at the groin. One hour after the accident life was extinct. - 'Truro Sun'
