Bewteen 11 and 12 o'clock Wednesday morn., John FAIRLEY who had been lying ill for several weeks past at the Royal Hotel, breathed his last. His death was the result of blood poisoning. While rafting logs on the Miramichi some time ago he slipped between the deals. He had an auger in his hand at the time, having hold of it by the handle and as he fell he stretched out the auger to save himself. He felt some pain in his hand afterwards and as it became severer he obtained medical assistance. As he was gradually getting worse, he came to St. John for treatment, but despite their best attention and skill he succumbed to death. Mr. FAIRLEY was an extensive lumber operator on the Miramichi. He was 58 years old, his father was the late James FAIRLEY of Boiestown and he had three brothers that survived him. He leaves a wife, two daughters and a son, the youngest but nine mos. old.
