Halifax, N.S., May 3 - A terrible accident happened in the Vale Colliery near New Glasgow this morn. by which six miners were killed outright; three others probably fatally injured and two or three more hurt, but not seriously. The workmen were coming to the surface from below when the rope attached to the rake broke and the box, running down the slope with fearful rapidity struck the bottom with terrible force. The following were killed: J.R. GILLIS, Colin CAMPBELL, A. FRASER, Wallace McGILLVERAY, J. McEACHRAN, Wm HANNEN. The following are not expected to recover: A. McLEOD, Richard TAYLOR and a boy named Jno. NICHOLSON.
