One of the prisoners sentenced to jail this morn. for drunkedness, died suddenly this afternoon while in jail from the effects of liquor. The name of the unfortunate man was John COX. He was a laborer and lived in St. John, but was born in Ireland. He was 45 years of age and a widower. His remains were removed to the Dead House about 3 o'clock this afternoon.
