James BROPHY, a resident of Fairville (St. John) died 20th inst., at the age of 53 years. He was the s/o late Daniel BROPHY and Annie BROPHY of Petersville (Queens Co.). He was engaged for some time in the grocery business in the city at the North End. He removed from the city back to Petersville where he spent a short time farming. He then came to Fairville where he carried on a grocery business for the past 12 years. He leaves a wife, but no children. He had two brothers, Edward BROPHY, living on the old homestead at Petersville and Daniel BROPHY doing business here. He leaves two sisters who reside in Boston and one in Lancaster. The deceased was a man of a retiring nature and temperate habits. He was rarely seen away from home except on business. He was confined to his room for the past three months, gradually succumbing to a fatal malady. But during that time he managed to preserve a cheerful disposition. The funeral will take place from his residence Main Street Monday afternoon 2:30 o'clock.
