John W. BENNETT alias John W. GRIFFITHS was found guilty of bigamy and sentenced to five years in Dorchester Penitentiary. (Acadian Record) - Yesterday our reporter had a short conversation with Patrick MAHONEY, mason. The latter said: I am supposed to be the father of some children, of which Mary Ann MAHONEY is the oldest. It is her that Bennett married as his third wife. Some years ago he (Patrick) and his wife fell out and he started off to do for himself. His wife is a sister of Mrs. McHARDY who keeps a second hand shop and by the way Mrs. Mahoney kept one herself. She had five children when they seperated. Mary Ann, who was married to Bennett and who is now about 18; Ellen MAHONEY, about 16; Susan MAHONEY, 13; Eveline MAHONEY, 10; and two boys aged about 8 and 5. Her name appears in last years directory as 'Mrs. Mary Mahoney, widow of John' (see original)
