Between 12 and 1 o'clock yesterday, as the dredge boat was being moved towards Rodney Wharf, a young man, James KIRK one of the hands, was on a crane endeavoring to clear it or contact with a loaded schooner. The machinery started and the crane moved knocking him off into the water where he was drowned before assistance could reach him. The remains were grappled at once and recovered in a short time and an inquest was held on board the dredge in the afternoon by Coroner Earle. KIRK was an unmarried man. His funeral will take place 3 p.m. from his residence Patrick St. (St. John)
