Charles H. PETERS died at his home 287 Union St. at 11 o'clock last eve. C.H. Peters was born at Hampstead (Queens Co.) in 1823. His father's name was Carleton PETERS. In 1845 he married a Miss Slipp d/o Geo. SLIPP of Hampstead. He came to St. John about 38 years ago and opened a tannery on Union St., an enterprise which is today the largest in the city. A short time after this Mr. Peters started a flour, grain and produce store, also on Unpn Street, but this business was subsequently transferred to Ward St., the exact locality being known as Peter's wharf. Deceased was ill only about a week. His physician and family gave up all hope about a week ago. Mr. Peters leaves seven sons and one daughter, all of whom are living in St. John. Mrs. Peters died a number of years ago. The funeral will take place from his residence tomorrow at 3 o'clock.
