The death of Elisha BROAD occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. DRESCHEL of Montreal, P.Q., Tuesday last week. Mr. Broad's illness was a brief one, death resulting from pneumonia. He was 76 years 5 months old and leaves three sons, Wallace BROAD who is now in South Africa and T. Winslow BROAD and Harry W. BROAD of St. Stephen and two daughters, Mrs. DRESCHEL and Mrs. THORNING, Montreal. The remains were brought to St. John where they were interred Friday last, Rev. Thos. Marshall officiating. Mr. Broad was born in Gagetown (Queens Co.). In 1844 he started an edge tool business in St. John, where he was prominent in business for many years. He came to Milltown in 1871 and later removed to St. Stephen where he manufactured goods which had a wide reputation for excellence. Within the past few years he had not taken part in business and finally retired about a year ago. About two months ago, he with Mrs. Broad, removed to Montreal to spend his last days with his children there.
