In the Reese River, Nevada Reveilie under date Nov. 1st we find the following life and death of N.J. MEATING, formerly of St. George (Charlotte Co.) N.B.: About half past 11 o'clock today, N.J. MEATING breathed his last in the 46th year of his age. He was a pioneer of Austin, having come here in 1863 and remaining ever ever since, except on one occasion he paid a visit to his old home in New Brunswick and while in San Francisco in search of health. Nick, as he was generally known had been in the employ of the Manhattan Company for many years. His ailment was some kind of lung disorder. He was born in New Brunswick in 1837 and was unmarried. He was a member of the Leander Lodge F.& A.M. Electa Chapter No. 2, O. of E.S. and Tolyabe Lodge No. 9, K. of P. Mr. Meating left St. George for California in 1853. He had one brother Joseph MEATING, still living in St. George.
