The friends of Capt. Samuel SCOTT were sorry when they read in the 'Globe' last night the hard passage he had and also the abandonment of his vessel, the "Enchanter". Capt. Scott was born in Portland (St. John) and for years sailed out of this port as a coaster and also as a deep sea man. His first square rigged vessel was the brigt. "Belle Walters". He afterwards sailed out of Liverpool and was at one time in command of a steamship. He made his home in Liverpool and for a time gave up going to sea and went into the seaman's furnishing goods business. Last year he purchased the "Enchanter" and assumed command of her. Capt. Scott's wife belongs to Halifax, N.S.
