A serious accident befell Charles McLAUCHLAN merchant of this city. On coming out of the Scammell Hotel in King St. on Monday night, his foot caught in the matting at the head of the stairway, when he plunged head first downwards to the bottom of the stairs. After being conveyed upstairs, he lay insensible and up to last eve. his condition was very precarious. Faint hopes of his recovery are entertained.
