Daniel PATTON, well known wholesale liquor merchant died at his residence Hazen Street last eve. about 6:30 o'clock. He was about his place of business as usual on Saturday, but had complained of feeling slightly unwell for a few days. Yesterday he did not leave his home at all, but he was in perfect health. About 4 o'clock he was stricken with an apoplectic fit. Mr. Patton remained unconscious until the time of his death. He was born here about 52 years ago and when about 14 years of age entered the employ of James DEVER, now senator, who was then engaged in the West India business, dealing in liquors, groceries etc. For a number of years Mr. Patton was clerk and then he branched out for himself taking a shop on Dock Street owned by Mr. Dever. Mr. Patton succeeded him in business. Mr. Patton was also a large real estate ownera and was considerably interested in shipping. He married twice, first to Miss HARRIGAN, Carleton and next to Miss SHORT, St. Stephen, sister of Mrs. RITCHIE, wife of the police magistrate. Five children survive the deceased, one by his first wife and four by the second - who died about four years ago. Mr. Patton's funeral takes place tomorrow afternoon.
