F.E. Sayre received letters yesterday from Santos giving the sad information that Capt. Thomas H. HOLDER of barquentine "Frederica" had died at that place March 27th of yellow fever. Capt. Holder was ill six days and died in the hospital. The letters were from Capt. Crawford of brigatine "Ohio" and Mate Daly of the "Frederica". The latter stated that the British Consul had placed him in charge after the death of the captain. The "Frederica" was having from 25 to 30 tons of cargo taken out of her per day, at the date of the letters and it is expected that she would be discharged in a month. Capt. Holder was a thorough navigator and was well liked by all those who knew him. He leaves a wife and three children, one a baby a few weeks old. The family reside at Carleton.
