Seven years since - the exact date we don't known, the St. John papers contained notices of the mysterious disappearance of Capt. William TUFTS, commander of schr. "Eva" in port at that time. It was generally believed that the man was drowned, that he had fallen into the harbour while attempting to baord his vessel and the narbor was dragged for the purpose of recovering his body. Another master was secured for the vessel, Capt. Tuft's share was sold and the missing man mourned as one dead. His family living at Quaco (St. John) heard nothing of him from the time of the supposed drowning. News has recently been brought however by some New Brunswickers who have been in South America, that Tufts is alive and well in one of the cities there, Buenos Ayres and that he is doing business under the name of CHARLTON. - 'St. John Globe'
