The following extract taken from the British Columbia 'Colonist', 10th Oct. referes to the death of the brother of Samuel HAMILTON of Upper Woodstock (Carleton Co.) N.B. - Yesterday morn., James HAMILTON, manager and partner of the Victoria Transfer Company left the stables in a buggy for his home. He arrived there and having fastened his horse entered his gate, but had scarcely done so when he was seen to stagger, and blood poured from his mouth and nostrils. He was assisted into the house and to his bed, but expired before the doctor arrived. The deceased, who was 40 years of age, leaves a wife and three children. He had been in the Province 17 years during which time he was connected with Barnard's Express on the mainland and in working a farm in Nicola valley in partnership with his brother. He also had an interest in the B.C. Express Col. since its formation. The immediate cause of death is supposed to have been the bursting of the main artery of the heart., which has been in a precarious state for some time past.
