Harcourt (Kent Co.) May 16 - Archibald FERGUSON, one of the best known bridge builders in the Province, left here some three weeks ago to superintend a structure on the Kouchibouguac river near McLeod's mills. On Thursday morn. word was received by telegraph that Mr. Ferguson was seriously ill and there were no hopes of his recovery. His son, William FERGUSON and son-in-law, Andrew McINTOSH, left immediately and on reaching their destination found that Mr. Ferguson had departed this life at an early hour that morn. It appears that Archy, as he was familiarly called, took his dinner at the usual hour on Wednesday, resumed his work and shortly afterwards, while stooping to pick up his square he was observed to fall and on being assisted up asked to be taken to his lodgings. Dr. W.A. Ferguson of Kingston was summoned too late to render any medical aid. The immediate cause of his death is the bursting of a blood vessel near his brain. The remains were brought home by train on Friday and were interred on Sunday in the Presbyterian burial ground near the station, Rev. Wm McLeod conducted the service at the residence of the deceased and at the grave. The pall bearers were James McDERMOTT, Robert CONNORS, James SHEA, Frank GRAHAM, James LIVINGSTONE and David CLARK. Deceased was 58 years of age and leaves a widow, three daughters and five sons.
